Image Processing

The technique of changing the characteristics of an image

Image processing encompasses a spectrum of techniques aimed at manipulating digital images to enhance, analyse, or extract information. Look-up tables, often used for color mapping or adjustments, act as reference tables to modify pixel values. Geometric transforms, such as scaling or rotation, alter the spatial arrangement of pixels. Arithmetic operations involve pixel-wise computations like addition or subtraction, while linear processing utilises operations like convolution to apply filters or enhancements. Non-linear processing, however, involves operations like gamma correction or thresholding, altering pixel values based on complex functions. These techniques are applied to both color and monochrome images, allowing for diverse modifications and analyses to meet various image processing objectives
